Introduction
Hey there - thanks for taking the time to read through our privacy policy. We know it's not exactly thrilling stuff, but we're committed to being straight-up honest about how we handle your personal information here at Obsidian Vale Architecture.
We're a small studio based in Vancouver, and we take privacy seriously. This policy explains what info we collect when you visit our site or work with us on a project, and how we keep it safe. We've tried to keep the legalese to a minimum and just tell it like it is.
Bottom line: We only collect what we need, we don't sell your data to anyone, and we protect it like we'd protect our own project blueprints.
Information We Collect
Look, we're architects, not data miners. But yeah, we do collect some information to run our business properly and serve you better.
Personal Information You Give Us
When you reach out for a consultation or send us an inquiry, we'll collect stuff like:
- Your name and contact details (email, phone number)
- Property address and project location info
- Project requirements and preferences you share with us
- Any other details you provide in forms or correspondence
Info Collected Automatically
When you browse our website, we automatically gather some technical data:
- IP address and general location (city/region level)
- Browser type and device information
- Pages you visit and how long you hang around
- How you found us (search engines, referral links, etc.)
Project-Related Information
If you become a client, we'll also collect and store:
- Site photos and property documentation
- Design preferences and inspiration materials
- Budget and timeline information
- Contracts, agreements, and project correspondence
How We Use Your Information
We're not gonna beat around the bush - here's exactly what we do with your data:
Service Delivery
To provide architectural services, respond to your inquiries, manage your projects, and deliver the designs you hired us for.
Communication
To send project updates, answer questions, share relevant info about your design, and keep you in the loop throughout the process.
Website Improvement
To understand how people use our site, fix bugs, and make the user experience better for everyone who visits.
Legal Compliance
To meet our legal obligations, maintain project records as required by Canadian law, and protect our rights if needed.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We don't sell your personal information. Period. That's not our business model, and it never will be.
However, there are a few situations where we might share your info:
Project Partners
We work with structural engineers, contractors, and consultants on most projects. We'll share relevant info with them, but only what's necessary to get your project done right.
Service Providers
We use cloud storage, email services, and project management tools. These providers might have access to your data, but they're contractually bound to keep it confidential.
Legal Requirements
If the law requires it or if we need to protect our rights (or yours), we might disclose information to legal authorities or in legal proceedings.
Your Privacy Rights
Under Canadian privacy laws (specifically PIPEDA), you've got some solid rights when it comes to your personal data. Here's what you can do:
Access Your Information
Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. We'll get it to you within 30 days.
Correct Inaccuracies
If we've got something wrong, let us know and we'll fix it ASAP.
Request Deletion
Ask us to delete your personal info (with some exceptions for legal/contractual obligations).
Withdraw Consent
If you've given us permission for something, you can take it back anytime.
To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at info@obsidianvale.info or give us a call. We'll handle your request professionally and promptly.
Data Security
We take security seriously. Your project info and personal data are stored with the same care we'd give to our own architectural plans - which is to say, pretty darn carefully.
Our Security Measures Include:
- Encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS) across our website
- Secure cloud storage with reputable Canadian providers
- Regular backups to prevent data loss
- Limited access - only team members who need it can access client data
- Password-protected systems and regular security updates
That said, no system is 100% bulletproof. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If we ever experience a data breach that affects you, we'll let you know right away and tell you what steps we're taking.
Children's Privacy
Our services aren't directed at kids under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you're a parent and think your child has given us their info, please reach out and we'll delete it immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We might update this privacy policy from time to time as our practices evolve or laws change. When we do make changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If there's a major change, we'll give you a heads-up through email or a notice on our website.
We'd recommend checking back here occasionally, especially if you're working on a project with us.
