We've been doing this sustainability thing since before it was cool. Growing up in these mountains, you learn pretty quick that nature's gonna win every time - so why not work with it?
Look, we're not here to slap solar panels on everything and call it a day. Real sustainability means thinking about the whole picture - from where we source our timber to how a building's gonna age over the next hundred years.
Every project starts with the land itself. We spend weeks just walking the site, watching how light moves, where water flows naturally, how wind patterns shift through the seasons. Sounds simple, but you'd be surprised how many folks skip this part.
The mountains taught us that the best designs are the ones you barely notice - they just feel right, like they've always been there.
We don't just talk green - we've got the paperwork to prove it
Gold & Platinum level certifications across residential and commercial projects
Certified designers pushing energy efficiency to its absolute limits
Challenge certified - yeah, we're a bit obsessed with going beyond basic standards
All new designs meet or exceed net-zero energy consumption goals
We're picky about what goes into our buildings - and we've got good reasons
100% FSC-certified or salvaged from local demo sites. There's something special about wood that's already lived one life - it's got character you can't fake.
Quarried within 100km when possible. Lower transport emissions, supports local economy, and honestly - it just looks better when materials are from the same region.
Sheep's wool, cellulose, hemp - sounds hippie, works amazing. These materials breathe, regulate moisture, and don't off-gas chemicals for years.
Natural oils, water-based stains, mineral paints. Your building shouldn't smell like a chemistry lab - we want clients moving in day one, not waiting weeks.
Structural steel from recycled content - typically 90%+ post-consumer. Strong, durable, and way less energy-intensive than virgin production.
Triple-pane, argon-filled where it counts. Mountain views are non-negotiable, but so is keeping heat in during February. We find the balance.
We're not big fans of roofs that look like science experiments. Our solar setups blend in - sometimes you won't even spot them. Average system offsets 85% of energy needs.
Ground's always 10C down there - might as well use it. Initial cost's higher but pays back in 7-10 years. Plus, no noisy outdoor units ruining the peace.
Old-school physics still works. Strategic window placement and thermal chimneys keep air moving naturally. Cuts HVAC usage by 40% in shoulder seasons.
BC gets plenty of rain - waste not, right? Systems range from simple barrels to full greywater treatment. Average client saves 40,000 liters annually.
We track everything because what gets measured gets improved. Here's what we've accomplished across all active projects this year.

For every project we complete, we fund the protection of 0.5 hectares of old-growth forest through local conservation groups. It's not about offsetting guilt - it's about leaving things better than we found them.
So far we've helped protect over 21 hectares right here in BC. That's real trees, real habitat, real impact.
Let's chat about how sustainable design can work for your project. No greenwashing, no compromises on quality - just honest architecture that makes sense.
